How to drive yourself completely insane in 3 easy steps....

Step 1:
Decide that making a Button Tree a la Ali Edwards in this post is a really cool idea.

Step 2:
Go to the shops and purchase a Styrofoam cone and a big bag of mixed buttons. Decide that although Ali's tree is really rather awesome, your abhorrence of nekkid buttons means that you don't want to just stick them on the cone with pins and that it would be a really good plan to clothe said buttons with some embroidery floss and stick them onto the cone with various adhesives. Paint the cone *Pine Green* just in case there are any gaps, so that there's no white showing through.

Step 3:
Spend many hours watching episodes from Season 1 of Supernatural while threading floss onto the buttons so that your tree is not covered in nekkid buttons.

After watching about 8 episodes of Supernatural and threading buttons you are left with this:
You are also left doubting your sanity in starting this project, left with nothing else created over the weekend, and left thinking that you need to make an appointment with the optometrist to have your eyes checked {and perhaps also with a psychiatrist to have your sanity checked}.

The pile of buttons seems rather small for the amount of time it took to thread them all and I'm thinking that this tree better be seriously freakin' gorgeous when I'm finished with it!!!

I hope to have it finished in the next couple of days....you may not see much from me until then. But if you don't hear from me within a few days then you will know that I've completely lost the plot and have been locked up in a nice soothing institution where everything is done up with straps and there are no buttons in sight :)

Right, better get to work....my amazing theory is in need of some work to convince the other academics that I'm not completely insane {at this point the veracity of which is extremely doubtful}.....

Wishing you a lovely ~button free~ day,
Kristie

You have me laughing my head off! That will be a seriously gorgeous card, but to get reimbursed for your time, it will be a $200 card :) Better frame it while you're at it!

I can't wait to see it.

1. said tree & dastardly button assortment do LOOK fabulous!

2. you are now PAST the "fiddly bits" stage & onto the FUN PART of the project when you go back to it

3. you have found a way to make ACADEMIC work look more fun & relaxing than ARTS-n-CRAFTS!!!

What a great idea. I love catching up with your blog every few days. You are always so bright and cheery. I can't wait to see the finished button tree. I don't think I could be as patient to thread all that floss.

Thanks for my grogeous card, I was very excited when it arrived in the post. I have been creative today, not making cards, carving my first pumpkin for the boys..I'm posting pics tonight.
