Katelin & Thomas's Birthday Cards

Hey there! Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday....my plans to have a big stamping night were foiled by a phone call from my Mama. When she phones we always end up chatting for ages and Tuesday night was no different....we were on the phone for 2 hours and by the time we hung up I just wasn't in the mood for stamping. Not that Mama put me in a bad mood....on the contrary, we were chatting about the fab holiday that the two of us are taking in July! Just in time for my birthday :)

Anyway, enough about my much needed holiday :) I wanted to make up not having a post yesterday by sharing the birthday cards I made for Katie and Tom, now that they have them.

Here's the one I made for Kate:

Kate's-b'day-card

The little girl image is from Sarah Kay and coloured with Copics. The sentiment is from *Happy Everything* and stamped in Orchid Opulence and clear embossed. The CS is Orchid, Lovely Lilac and Pixie Pink (I think!). The flower gems are Kaiser and the white flowers were a RAK from Mad. I spritzed them with the Orchid marker. I'd seen flowers like that on another blog (cannot remember whose it was!) and although I don't know if she did them herself or bought them like that, I thought I could achieve the same effect with my spritizing tool....it worked really well. Oh, and the brads are Pretty in Pink and I used the Scallop punch for the border of the Lilac layer. There are more flowers on the inside but I forgot to get a photo of that....duh!

Tom's-b'day-card

For Tom's card I used *Bugs and Kisses* and lots of green...his favourite colour. The base and the snail are Tempting Turquoise, the layer is Sage Shadow (again I think!) and the worms are Certainly Celery. The grasshopper and ants are stamped in Always Artichoke. I used the Scalloped circle punch and the large tag punch and attached the tag with a Celery brad. Pretty basic really...but I find boy cards so much harder than girl's :(

This afternoon I'm going to be working on changing the look of my blog....again. I bought a header and background from The House of 3 to try out. The main reason for that is that I'm trying to get better at designing my own....and hopefully in the future designing them for others...so I wanted to see how they did them and the easiest way is to buy them and test them out...IYKWIM????

That reminds me....if there's anyone out there who doesn't have a blog and would like one but just thinks it's too hard to do...get in touch with me by email...my addy is over in the sidebar. I'd like some *guinea pigs* to test out my skills on before I start charging for my services. So if you want a blog set up (either Blogger or Wordpress) for FREE then get in touch. I've been checking out the prices people charge for this and I am shocked by how expensive they are!!!  $250 US to set up a blog is outrageous in my opinion....if you are just an ordinary person who wants to blog for fun then I don't see how you could afford that. Maybe if you were doing it as a business and wanted a professional job maybe you could afford that, but still it's awfully expensive. When I start my little sideline doing blog headers etc I want to make them affordable for everyone....so leave me a comment and let me know what you think would be a reasonable price for that kind of service..eg: a header, a background, setting up a whole blog with custom header and background.

OK, better go do some work. I have tons of things to get done, but the morphine is making me rather lazy (that's my excuse anyways)...

Have a great Thursday,

Kristie

(smallish sidebar: some of the light green links on the paler parts of the blue background are a little difficult to read...at least on MY monitor...with MY eyes! :) it's not TERRIBLE, but if it's easily changeable maybe ya wanna...?? pink perhaps, or a darker green? sorry, just thought i'd mention!)
