Caardvarks + Colour Throwdown

I can never find the time to do all the challenges I'd like to participate in, so like I've done before, I've combined two different challenges to make one card.

This months Caardvarks Challenge is a sketch:

I really liked this one and so I combined it with this week's Colour Throw down (#36) which was Pink, Turquoise and Orange...a wild colour combo if ever I saw one...but taken from the logo colours of the sponsor...Our Craft Lounge. Even though orange is not one of my favourite colours, this combo works surprisingly well....albeit bright. So you might need your sunnies before you check out my creation:

I used *Bloomin' with Beauty* for the flower and bee images...the flower was stamped on Neenah Solar Crest with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics, the bee was stamped with Pink Passion, as was the sentiment from the now retired *Wonderful Words*. The DSP is from SU's *Petals & Paisleys* and the CS is Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise & Only Orange. The ribbon is Tempting Turquoise and I've used the corner rounder, scalloped circle, 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punches.

I think that about covers it :) I got a few cards made last night...though my Mojo was not really willing to be cooperative...more than one ended up in the bin (well parts of them anyway!) I even attempted to make a woven Easter basket from the tutorial over on SCS....and now have a great admiration for people who make baskets....it's waaaaayyyyy harder than it looks...LOL!

Before I go I just want to mention that Squigglefly is having an awesome blog hop, with tons of chances to win fabulous blog candy. Squigglefly does amazing digital images that can be re-sized to suit your every need, not to mention they are super cute and really affordable. You can print out each download as many times as you like...so I guess you can call them digital stamps :) If you want to see some of the great images in action (so to speak) then start here and follow the links to all the DT's blogs for the chance to win the great prizes on offer.

Hope your Friday is totally fabulous,

Caardvarks Challenge

The current Caarvarks challenge is called *Kraft Macaroni & Cheese*....bit odd, no? However, it just means that you're meant to use Kraft card stock when making your creation :) This is what I came up with:
I really love this Websters paper that I used for this card...so much so that I put some on the inside of my card too:
Supplies:
Paper: SU Kraft, Bazzil textured CS (dark pink), Websters Pages DP
Stamps: SU Warm Words
Ink: SU Chocolate Chip
Other: SU Choc Chip Taffeta ribbon & Hemp twine, Fancy Pants Kraft tag, Stick on half back pearls (they came in the RAK from Mad, so I don't know who makes them), Heidi Swapp felt butterflies.

I was totally inspired to make this card by the fabulous Miss Lauren's creation for the Caarvarks DT. Imagine how surprised I was when I went out to the mail box this afternoon and found that very same card waiting there for me!!!!
It was just what I needed to cheer me up & it's now keeping me company at my desk. It is so much more gorgeous in real life than my photo can make it look...it makes me smile every time I see it :)

Hope your Monday is not too dreadful....lol

Two for One

Seeing as I'm so short on play-time at the moment, I'm trying to incorporate as many challenges as possible into one card! This one is for both Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #41 and the current Caardvarks challenge....CHOCOLATE! Seriously, what could be better than cupcakes and chocolate...or in this case, chocolate cupcakes.I did deviate from the sketch a tiny little bit, in that I didn't make a square card, and it also looks that the DSP on the background is the same....but it's actually not. It's two different ones; same pattern, different colours....though I have managed to cut it and place the image panel in such a way that you can't actually tell that the piece on the right has blue & cocoa flowers while the left has pink & green! Very clever of me, huh?

Supplies:
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink (SU!), Neenah Solar White.
Stamps: Impression Obsession.
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Chocolate Chip.
Other stuff: Pretty in Pink grosgrain ribbon, So Saffron brads, Designer Label Punch, Corner Rounder.

OK, now I'm going to indulge in a rant about city living...if you just come here for the cards feel free to go look at some other blog!

Today I went to Uni to do some research and managed to accidentally loose track of the time and ended up coming home in peak hour traffic. This totally sucks!!!! It's one of the main reasons I hate living in the city. I was squished onto the bus with fifty gazillion other people and crawled home in the bumper to bumper traffic, driven by one of the most insane bus drivers I've encountered so far....taking five times longer than it normally takes without this horrendous chaos. Seriously.....how do these people stand driving in that mess day after day? I could never do it....even if they'd let me drive, which they won't, I'd still take the bus or the train. At least then I can sit (hopefully) and listen to my ipod and stare out the window.

OK, now I feel much better. I'm going to go eat some pizza and watch True Blood and hopefully that will take away all the stress of the trip home. I know I said I'd show Lara's card today, but I wanted to post this challenge card first....so maybe tomorrow????
