Inspiration #2

Well, I said that I was not entirely happy with my first card that I made for the inspiration challenge, so I tried again.... It kind of looked like the flower on the right was coming out of the bird's head...of course it was stuck down pretty hard, though I did manage to fix it so that I was a little more satisfied, but it still seemed kind of...bland. Anyway, here is attempt #2:I stuck with basically the same colour scheme, minus the choc chip CS...so there's Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White CS and the same for inks. I did use a Choc Chip marker to ink up the branches from Spring Solitude....this time minus the leaves, because when the magnolia is in flower there aren't any leaves!! The Pink BG is stamped with the French Script BG stamp in Pomegranate....but in a vintage-y kind of style (thanks Ange for the tips on how to do that!). I tried a few different techniques to do the flowers from Bodacious Bouquet...a couple are stamped in Pink and Pomegranate and afterward had the tips smeared with white ink. The 2 at the front were inked up with the different colours, one was swooshed around with the aqua painter and the other just the top was smeared with Pink and the bottom with Pomegranate.

The delicious ribbon is the Pomegranate satin that's available in the Mini catty (please notice that I did a better job with the bow this time!), and the sentiment is a rub on from Cherished Memories. The little half back white pearls come from the Pretties kit. There's also some sponging and inking of the edges. I don't think this one is very suitable for sending in the mail, but I am rather happy with it. It's still not perfect, but I think it's not too bad for a first attempt at a more vintage style.

I hope to be back later in the day with a couple of other challenge cards that I'm working on. I'm trying out a few different styles this week and it's a bit of a challenge for me not to just do *clean & simple*...but I'm working on it!!! I do have to go and do some shopping first though....the sales are calling to me :)

Tomorrow will be the next installment in what I've decided to call *Completely Random Sunday*. After giving you some quotes from Terry Pratchett last week, I've decided that every Sunday I will do a post that is not related to paper crafting....the horror of it!!! But, the catch is that you never know just what you'll get...so check in tomorrow to find out what randomness I've come up with for this week.

Have a fabulous day
Kristie
