Another CASE

This time from p. 18 of the mini. I don't like to brag about myself...but I totally love this one!!!! It's just a simple little card, 15cm square, but it is just so pretty :)I switched the colours of the one in the catty swapping the River Rock and Ruby Red and I think it looks better than the one I cased....oh yeah, I'm so lovin' myself right now....LOL!!!!

On another note, thanks to Leslie (see the comments in the last post) I found out that my love of Purple means that I'm extremely creative and/or eccentric!!!! I know a few people who would be happy to tell you that I'm definitely eccentric....so maybe there's something in this after all :)

Supplies:
CS: River Rock, Very Vanilla, Ruby Red
Ink: Close to Cocoa, River Rock (to colour the flowers using an aquapainter)
Stamps: Embrace Life, Live Your Dream (sentiment)
Other: Ginger Blossom DSP, Cocoa ribbon, Cocoa button, hemp twine.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend,
Kristie

I made something new!!!!

I'm a bit excited that I finally made something new...my mojo has been in hiding ever since I got home. While I'm not entirely thrilled with the result, I think it's ok.

My baby brother (Madonna's twin) is getting married next Saturday and their wedding colour is PURPLE...Shaun's favourite colour (as well as mine & our Dad's....wonder what that says about us????). I had originally planned on making a card with their initials on it....but his future wife's name is Michelle and I realised that those initials might not be quite appropriate.....think about it :)

Anyway, this is what I ended up with:

I've used the flower from *Embrace Life*, stamped on Neenah Solar and coloured with Copics. The swirls and *cherish* are from the Cherished Memories rub-ons, the base is Elegant Eggplant, as is the ribbon.

I might make something different...depends on whether or not my SU! order gets here in time, before I have to send it off.

I've decided that my biggest problem with my creativity at the moment is the way I have this new room organised. In my old room I had everything within reach from my desk, but here it's all spread out along one wall. Though I have more room in here, I'm finding it harder to see what I've got without getting up from my chair...oh, maybe I'm just really lazy :)

I definitely need to be better organised...but finding the time to do it at the moment is just impossible!!! I'm thinking about making a trip to Ikea this weekend to see if I can find myself some better storage solutions...depends on how much work I can get done in the next couple of days.

Speaking of work....better get back to it.

Hope you all have a fabulous Thursday,
Kristie

Another award!!!! and casing the catty

I am so privledged to have such lovely PSF's who keep giving me these fabulous awards. This one comes from my wonderful friend Paula, and I'm supposed to pass it on to 5 other bloggers.

Today I am going to actually follow the rules and pass it on!!!! So my five, in no particular order, are:

My fabulous sister Madonna, without her I wouldn't even be doing this.
The uber talented Lauren, who is one of the most creative people I know.
The totally awesome June, for always being so inspiring.
Leslie, because she ALWAYS makes me laugh.
And last, but certainly not least, Lydia...she's not only funny but super talented too.

Ok, on to the crafty stuff....

When I was having the big marathon card making session to make enough stuff to keep the blog going while I was away I started to get a bit low on inspiration. One of the great things about the SU! catalogues though, is that they don't just show you the stamps, but they have a whole lot of really great sample projects as well. This card is a direct case of the one on the front of the Summer mini:I found lots of great inspiration in this catty and you'll be seeing a few more cased cards while I try and find my lost mojo :)

Supplies:
CS: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive
Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Other: Felt Fusion flowers, Rose Red brad, Hidden Garden rub-ons, white gel pen, Cutter Kit

Happy stamping :)

A Blog Award and something different...

Firstly, I want to say a great big thanks to the wonderful Miss June, who gave me this blog award this week.

"This award is given to a blog that invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!"

The rule of the award is to now pass it on to another 8 people who demonstrate this spirit. You all know that I'm hopeless when it comes to passing it on, and June has already given the award to some of those people that I would have given it to....so I'm just going to say that the absolute BEST thing about this adventure in blogging is the wonderful and amazingly talented friends that I have made. You can find most of them over there in the list on the right....there are some seriously fantastic ladies on that list - fantastically talented as well as super NICE....go check them out :)

Right, on to the crafty stuff. As I STILL haven't finished organising my craft space this is another one that I made before I went away. I'm sure that most of you are familiar with the amazing things that Michelle Zindorf does with a brayer....I am definitely not in her league...LOL!!!! But I've wanted to try out the techniques that she uses for a while, and as a regular reader of her blog I figured that I had read enough of her fantastic tutorials to finally give it a go.

As you can see....not even close to being in her league!!! But for a first attempt I was ok with it. I figure it's good to show you stuff that I'm not 100% happy with...shows that you can't be fabulous all the time, right?????

This card uses one of the new sets from the Summer Mini called Ocean Commotion....and it's an Australia/New Zealand only one!!!! It's nice that we've got something the rest of the world doesn't for a change...lol. All of the images were stamped with VersaMark and ink and clear embossed before I took to what was a sheet of Whisper White CS with the brayer and sponges. How cute is that seahorse??? I just love him and you'll be seeing him again for sure :)

Supplies:
CS: Whisper White, Blue Bayou, Not Quite Navy, Purely Pomegranate
Ink: VersaMark, Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, River Rock
Stamps: Ocean Commotion
Other: Scallop Punch, Brayer, Sponges

It has been insanely HOT, HOT, HOT here this week....as I write this I'm sitting in front of my brand new air-cooler, filled with ICE water and as long as I don't move it should be ok. It seems so weird to be reading blogs where people are complaining about the cold....right now I'd be happy with some snow....LOL!

So, hope you all have a day of NON-EXTREME weather, wherever you are,
Kristie

A bright & happy birthday

Before I get on to the crafty stuff I just want to say a big thank you for all of your lovely comments about my darlin' Grandma.....my blog friends are just wonderful ♥

We've got lots of December babies in our family, so I had quite a few birthday cards to make. I did make a few before I left and I'll be showing you those, but I forgot to take any photos of the ones I made while I was away....duh!!!! Anyways, this is one I made for my cousin Zoe, who has her birthday just after Christmas. It makes me so glad to have my birthday in the middle of the year, cause these December babies often miss out in the frenzy of Christmas. So I made sure that I had Zoe's card done and ready to take away with me so that I could give it to her when I saw her at Christmas. Actually, we spent heaps of time together as we visited with Gran and it was so nice to catch up. Mama has gotten her into card making too and I can't wait to see some of her work.

Anyway, here's the card:
Supplies:
CS: Orchid Opulence, Pixie Pink
Ink: Orchid Opulence, VersaMark
Stamps: Eastern Blooms
Other: Hidden Garden Rub-ons (sentiment), white embossing powder.

Now, can you believe that there's no ribbon or bling on this card???? I actually thought that the bright colours and cut out flowers made a bold enough statement alone without adding to it....I know...I can hardly believe myself....LOL.

In other news.... yesterday I moved into a bigger room in the house that I live in....yep, another housemate has moved out and we're looking for a new one!!!! The new room is waaaaay bigger than my old one....and you know what that means? More room for craft supplies....YAY!!!!! Now I just have to get it all organised again!!! But I shall take photos once I'm finished and show you. I can't wait to get it done so I can get back to creating....I haven't made anything for a couple of weeks now and I am having some serious withdrawal symptoms :)

Hope you're having a fantastic day,
Kristie

I'm back....

Hi all! Firstly, my apologies for such a long time between posts. I really should have posted before now, but things have been a little crazy and rather difficult. My beloved Grandma passed away last Saturday after a few weeks in the hospital and I spent a lot of time with her in those last days....both a blessing and a burden.

So, here I am....back in Sydney and ready to get back to *normal life*....LOL!!!

Back before I went away I hosted another swap for Alisa's team, for cards made with new stamps from the Summer Mini Catalogue. For mine I chose Eastern Blooms. I really love this branch image, and although there's heaps of other great flower images in the set, I thought that this branch would look great embossed in white on Rose Red CS....I think I was right :)
Supplies:
CS: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Rose Red
Ink: VersaMark
Stamps: Eastern Blooms, In the Spotlight
Other: Rose Red 1" double stitched ribbon, 3/4" & 1" Circle Punches, Boho Blossom Punch, White embossing powder

I promise to get back into the swing of things and post regularly again :)

Hope you're having a great day,
Kristie
