Challenges

OK, well the challenge from Madonna to use Cameo Coral turned out to be just that, a real challenge. Everything I've come up with so far has been....ordinary to say the least. I am quite determined to try again, but in the meantime....

Kristina Werner's challenges are always interesting and this week she used another colour I don't particularly like much - Pumpkin Pie. However, I'm actually quite happy with the way the card tuned out - except when I photographed it I noticed that some of it is a little crooked - but hey, that's the beauty of handmade things - the little imperfections, right? LOL

Here's the pic that was the inspiration for the challenge:

And here's my card:
I used Bashful Blue CS for the base, Pumpkin Pie and Very Vanilla CS and some gorgeous Brilliant Blue DSP and CS. The sentiment is the ever popular (in my craft area anyway) Short and Sweet, as is the tiny flower on the scallop punch circle. The layout is from Poetic Artistry's Mojo Monday week 36 sketch. Oh, and the ribbon is the stripped Bashful Blue. Looking at this bad photo it looks even more crooked than it is IRL. LOL!

The next card is for the Elite Challenges, organised by our fabulous upline to challenge us. There are three challenges each month, a sketch, a colour combo and a stamp set. This one is for the sketch challenge and when I work out how to upload it to the site I will!

I used my all time favourite colour combo for this one: Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red and Regal Rose, with a bit of Very Vanilla thrown in to lighten it up a bit. The ribbon is the 1/4" grosgrain in Eggplant and the butterfly and sentiment come from Garden Whimsy and are stamped in Eggplant too. I pierced the butterfly trail and prettied her up with a couple of pink 'Fire' rhinestone brads, one medium and one small. I usually leave the inside of my cards blank, but for this one I stuck in some Vanilla CS (it's a bit hard to see any writing on the Eggplant) and stamped the butterfly again with Eggplant and the little beetles in Rose Red in the other corners.
I'm really happy with the way this one turned out.... Maybe I could just post it to myself ~hehehe~

Thanks for looking, hope you have a great day,

Kristie

i stand chastened and rebuked. obviously. :)

*bright orange--pretty close to "pumpkin pie" actually--was frank sinatra's favorite color! (just one of the many many totally useless bits of trivia i cart about in my head.) (you're welcome, lol!)
