How to borrow ideas.....

When ever I get tired of translating incomprehensible Coptic texts, I jump online and wander around in blog land checking out the creative efforts of the plethora of talented ladies who put their work out there for the world to see. I have many favourites (really need to update that list....) and every now and then I just see something that makes me go....yeah! I want to try that!

A couple of weeks ago the super talented Makeesha Byl posted this idea for a writing set. I really liked it, having been rather addicted to stationery sets from a young age. She very kindly emailed me the instructions on how to make the folder...but the last few weeks have been kinda busy and I just hadn't gotten around to it yet!

Then, Mish Mash posted this idea for a note card set to give as a gift. Combine the two and voila... a new idea is born. Instead of writing paper inside the stationery set, I would make some cute little note cards.

This is how it looks on the outside.....

This is what you see when you open it up, although I'm thinking it might need some further decoration......
And these are the 8 note cards I made to go inside it....

It was actually really simple and took about half an hour to whip it up. The folio is made of my very last piece of textured Wild Wasabi 12x12 CS (Reminder to self to order MORE). The cards themselves are just a quarter of Wild Wasabi CS topped with a slightly smaller piece of Very Vanilla. I've stamped the 'thank you' from Short and Sweet at the top and popped on a piece of Certainly Celery DSP from the Pallet of Prints and it was done. They are just flat note cards and don't open, perfect for sending off a quick thank you note. I placed some Very Vanilla envelopes in behind, punched a couple of holes in the edge and tied some Celery ribbon to hold it closed.

On the front is some Very Vanilla layered onto Pretty in Pink and decorated with Garden Whimsy butterflies in Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Orchid Opulence. The Ladybugs are in Elegant Eggplant. The flowers are Primas with a silver brad through the middle and popped up on dimensionals.

It was super easy and quick to make and although I had thought about giving it as a gift to someone, I've now decided that it will be really handy to have for myself....ie. I like it and I'm not gonna share!!!!

Hope you have a great day,

Kristie

you get *TIRED* of translating incomprehensible coptic texts??! ...how very odd... :)

ok girlygirl i LOOOOOOOVE this thingie! i love the "fusion" of ideas...i love the cool stampy/flowery cover...i love the neat pockets...i *adore* the "flat notecard" idea (how cool is that! i'm SO makin' some!)...

upon reflection, it'd've been quicker & easier to list what i DON'T LIKE:

...

yeah--MUCH quicker!!! :)

(ps: *i* would probably need to smack a few little flowers INSIDE the folder too (what with bein' the queen of extraneous embellishment and all!)...but...the bulk might make it lay funny...i dunno...it does look RATHER FAB with just the notes...)

Hey Kristie, I love what you have done here....converting it into a card holder! That would also be a fab gift full of cards! Thanks for sharing and also the lovely comments about me...not too sure that I am talented, but I just love stamping so it is great to share :0 Take care, Makeesha x
